Westwood Instruments has introduced a new Kontakt Player-powered solo cello sample library made with rhythm in mind.

With a variety of tempos, time signatures and feelings, all completely beat-syncable, Rotor features a collection of 150 unique rhythmical patterns, played by cellist Polly Virr with true human feeling and timing.

The rhythms have been influenced from scores and artists from every musical corner imaginable. Etta James to George Gershwin to NWA to Radiohead to Daft Punk and beyond. Our challenge was to create a huge variety of styles and feels that would work across multiple genres.

Taking these references into the studio, our method was to improvise and create rhythmical cello parts. The end result is 150 original looped rhythms that all have a individual feel and are right at home in both modern scores as well as fitting in to songwriting and production.

Rotor features

  • 150 tempo-synced rhythms.
  • 15 Short articulations.
  • 15 Flourish articulations.
  • Percussion sounds.
  • 4 production-ready mixes.
  • 4 mic signals.

Rotor is priced $165 USD / 165 EUR / £139 GBP. An introductory 30% discount is offered until September 12th, 2024.
