Wire Grind has launched a new audio plugin that features both upwards and downwards compression, expansion, and a set of mid/side channel processing options.

Most compressors work by making loud sounds quieter. However, there is another compressor design that makes quiet sounds louder. This design is relatively uncommon, and it produces very different results. Abracompabra incorporates both designs, and its extended ratio parameters allow for upwards and downwards expansion too.

Abracompabra includes mid/side processing, and it uses separate channel configurations for the control and compressed signals. There are four channel configurations for the control signal (linked, unlinked, mid, side), and three more for the compressed signal (unlinked, mid, side). Combining both channel mode options, users have a total of twelve distinct channel configurations.

Abracompabra features

  • 12 channel configuration modes.
  • Upwards & downwards compression.
  • Upwards & downwards expansion.
  • Look-ahead.
  • Up to 16x oversampling.
  • Integrated dynamic limiter.
  • Strong trigger signal filtering.
  • Trigger signal scope.
  • Gain reduction/gain increase meters.
  • Soft knee.
  • Mono, stereo, and various surround sound formats.

Abracompabra for Windows (VST3) is available on sale for the intro price of $30 USD / 28 EUR for a limited time (regular $69 USD / 63 EUR).
