Wrong Tools has announced the release of an inspiring piano library for Native Instruments Kontakt, featuring the sounds of a 1930 Bechstein grand piano, modified with a “putty-kit” for a muted flageolet (harmonics) kinda sound.

The recording session took about a week. Careful adjustments to the putty dashes was done to achieve the best-sounding harmonics across the dynamic layers and round-robins.

Then… over several months, the samples were polished, fine-cut and refined. Resulting in what we experience as a new kind of piano sound. Very inspiring, unusual and an absolute pleasure to play.

Putty Grand features

  • A 1930 Bechstein Grand Piano with a dash of putty kit on each string.
  • Up-to 9 velocity layers.
  • Recorded with natural dynamics.
  • 3 recorded rounds of round robin plus Scripted round robin options.
  • Recorded with lots of mics, but mixed down to stereo.
  • Piano for Native Instruments KONTAKT.
  • A precise Flageolet dampened grand-piano sound .
  • Mechanical sounds on separate fader.
  • Custom ir reverbs.
