Krakli Synths RMP2

Krakli Synths has released RMP2, a virtual synthesizer plug-in for Windows.

RMP2 is a multi-timbral synth consisting of two distinct sections: one using the hybrid FM/Physical Modelling techniques from The Richman series, the other section using the Multi-Oscillators from the S series synth.

RMP2 comes complete with 384 patches contributed from Himalaya and Dimitri Schkoda.

The vast number of presets mean that you can use RMP2 as a preset machine if you are daunted by its un-conventional controls (hey, it is a Krakli Synth!) but you may be suprised at just how easy it is to create new and interesting sounds.

The bottom area of RMP2 allows for independent arpeggiation of each synth section and you can apply a fully variable key split enabling Chords and solo parts to be played at the same time. Features like this mean that RMP2 can be used as a rewarding live players instrument.

RMP2 is available as donationware VST instrument for Windows PC (includes S3O, a power-organ emulator).

Krakli Synths RGB4

Krakli Synths has released RGB4, a freeware virtual instrument plug-in for Windows.

I was in a quandary here, I have had RGB4 waiting in the wings for quite some while, but it appears to have confounded most of the guys that have volunteered to write patches for it, with a couple of exceptions. Thank you Heiko!

I couldn’t keep holding back and for one reason or another I wasn’t able to spend my own time patching it so I thought I would try something a little different. I haven’t put it up on the Free Synths page as I consider it in beta, but you can download RGB4 HERE. At the moment it only contains 22 of the 64 patch slots filled, but hopefully some of you out there might be able to add to that number.

RGB4 features

  • Two main sound sources: a 32 partial additive Osc and a more conventional multi-wave VA Osc.
  • Individual levels of each partial can be controlled by red sliders at the top left of the display, or by the ADSR sliders ranked below each partial. Blue sliders vary the amount of ADSR modulation and the Green Oscilloscope trace shows the realtime modulation of the waveform.
  • Multiwave Oscillator with simple controls and a mix knob to vary the amount it comes into the sound (waveform is indicated by the Yellow Oscilloscope display).
  • Global ADSR which affects the overall amplitude of the sound.
  • Octave Velocity and Volume amounts.
  • Controls for bend range, vibrato, delay rate and amount.
  • Filter modulation section with x-y pad.
  • 6 filter frequency, resonance, envelope modulation and LFO (with various waveforms) controls.
  • Global control for filter LFO rate, including random LFO waveform.
  • Phase shift for LFO waveforms.

RGB4 is available as a freeware VST instrument for Windows PC.

Krakli RMXL

Krakli has released RMXL, a freeware virtual instrument plug-in for Windows.

RMXL is a re-release of a plugin previously included as a Computer Music exclusive.

It is the best Richman synth to date with two totally independent sound sources and a wide variety of top class patches from electric-himalaya.com.

All in all a very playable instrument.

RMXL is available as a freeware VST instrument for Windows PC.

Krakli Synths Strata

Krakli Synths has released Strata, a freeware VST instrument plug-in for Windows PC.

STRATA is a faily low-key release and it is not one of the most flexible sounding synths I have done but it will be of interest to those that prefer the ‘weirder’ Krakli stuff.

Strata features

  • Multiple oscillator synth which has a form of FM on each of it’s 16 individually tuned oscillators.
  • 16 Osc and Mod levels (mod levels have controls for velocity, root, mod and tame).
  • ADSR for Mod and Amp.
  • Delay, rate and amount.
  • Controls for shift and mix.
  • Main velocity and volume.
  • 20 presets.

Strata is available as a freeware VST instrument for Windows PC.

Krakli S3O / S3Ks

Krakli has released S3O and S3Ks, two VST instruments for Windows PC.

S3O is largely the same as CMorg that was previously only available in Computer Music magazine but it does have a few new wrinkles, namely:

  • A choice of waveforms for the upper drawbar rank.
  • A VCF with attack decay and sustain controls.
  • The addition of a phazor (from the S3).
  • 64 presets.

S3Ks is identical sonically to S3K but has a step sequencer added at the bottom with a piano-roll step entry method and a series of sliders controlling velocity and gate-length.

S3O and S3Ks are available as donationware.

Krakli S3K

Krakli has released a free version of S3K, a synth VST instrument for Windows PC.

Krakli writes:

An S3 ‘mono’ synth with a whole load of attitude. Complete with 64 excellent patches from himalaya, S3K attempts to fuse retro sounds with a hard modern edge. Octaver, Ring mod and arpeggiators are added in addition to the normal Echo, Phase and Reverb effects. For the best effect make sure that you use the modulation wheel to its full potential.

The next in the line of S3 plugs, this one takes the S3 concept and makes it just a little more flexible. This plugin also contains the Pulse module which can be used to create a number of different Rythmic effects.

S3B features

  • Oscillator with Width, Move and Amount controls.
  • Noise with Tone and Amount controls.
  • ADSR.
  • Vibrato with Delay, Rate and Amount controls.
  • Waveforms: Sine, Square, Triangle, Saw, Soft Ramp, Peak Ramp, Ramp, Peak, Octava, Cluster 1, Cluster 2
