Humanworkshop has announced Foley Bass, a free virtual synthesizer instrument for Native Instruments Kontakt.
I do one to one tutoring with artists and sound designers via my website. And after the great contribution by Nolan, aka Frequent, a student asked me about using foley in kontakt to create heavy bass sounds. So that’s exactly what we did. With the foley sounds in the pack from Nolan we created a set of patches and I later added a background and selected some parameters for the UI. Coincidentally Nolan has been doing lessons with me also, small world.
Besides the recordings of Nolan I used KSP scripting and built in FX. By adding FX chains in kontakt we can add harmonics. By using the scripting language to detune and set it in a nice legato mode we can end up with lovely sustained bass notes.
Foley Bass is a free download. The original recordings by Frequent are also available to download here.

Glitchmachines has announced the release of Polygon, a new sampler plugin designed to facilitate the creation of stunning composite sound effects.
Co-developed by Ivo Ivanov and Thomas Hennebert, Polygon was conceived from the ground up with unconventional attributes and a fast, forward-thinking workflow.
Layering samples is only the beginning. Polygon’s unique granular mode will bend your samples into fresh material while its clean and logical interface, extensive modulation options and distinctive sonic fingerprint make it an invaluable tool for creative sound design.
At the heart of Polygon, you will find 4 Sampler modules featuring a granular mode and various play and loop modes with focus and loop range sliders. The modules are supported by 8 LFOs, 4 modulation envelopes with variable slopes, two multi-mode filters, three effects processors, a sub oscillator and various global parameters. All of Polygon’s components work in conjunction with its modulation matrix to allow you to achieve extremely dynamic results with relative ease.
Polygon’s sound set was compiled to facilitate the broadest possible range of sonic flexibility. Its core is driven by a 1.2 GB sample library comprised of brand new material and previously unreleased alternate edits from our entire range of sound ware products. To get you started, we included factory presets from Ivo Ivanov, Thomas Hennebert, Nicholas Yochum and Daed. Load any of your existing samples and listen as Polygon takes things in exciting new directions.
- 1.2 GB 24bit/96khz .wav sample library.
- 4 monophonic Sampler Modules with Granular Mode.
- Play & Loop modes with Range Sliders.
- 4 Mod Envelopes with Cycle Mode and variable slopes.
- 8 LFOs with Retrig, Sync and built-in Multipliers.
- 3 FX Processors: Metalizer, Stutter and FM Ring Mod.
- Sub Oscillator with Sine & Square wave with PWM.
- Comprehensive Modulation Matrix and Global RND Isolate Suite.
- Cross-platform compatibility (PC/Mac – VST/AU 32bit & 64bit).
Polygon is available to purchase for $49 USD.

Meltedsounds has launched Whoosh, a true sound design instrument for Native Instruments Reaktor that enables you to create breath taking whoosh and pass-by effects.
It is possible to precisely design sounds varying from whistling wind whooshes to air ripping engine pass-bys or completely over the top granular sci-fi effects.
The included doppler effects engine was designed from ground up to physical model the acoustic phenomena of an object that approaches, passes, and recedes from an observer. The individual playback engines, the source mixer and doppler engine can be manipulated in synchronized connection to each other. This makes it possible to playback the desired sound effect at different durations while remaining everything in perfect sync.
Whoosh comes with an extensive onboard sample library licensed from leading sound effect recordists. It includes categories like wind, fire, metal, water, engine and explosion effects.
- Enables you to design breath taking whoosh and pass-by sound effects.
- Complex but intuitive to use sound design engine.
- 4 loop / grain samplers, 4 impact samplers, wave mixer, doppler engine and post effects.
- Comes with over 240 sounds exclusively licensed from professional sound effect recordists.
- Note: Loading your own sounds is not supported at the moment but it is possible. (This will become officially available in a future update)
Whoosh is available to purchase for $79 USD. Requires Reaktor 5.8 or later (Player not supported).
