SZCZ has launched Orchestra Enigmatica, a synthesizer instrument library for Native Instruments Kontakt that is built around a vintage orchestral analog synthesizer theme, a nod to times when emulating acoustic instruments with plain sawtooth wave was the thing.
The base sounds come from the Siel Orchestra (first version), a 1979 Italian synthesizer. Being full of little quirks and imperfections, it makes the sounds more alive. Additionally, some voices were created with a 1984 Sequential Circuits Six-Track.
I tried to preserve their nature using long detailed samples. Sustained sounds are looped by hand without any crossfading, a task which proved to be quite challenging at times. Raw sounds can be combined and shaped in Kontakt, essentially this is more a synthesizer than a library.
In this instrument, I introduced multi-arp function, an advanced arpeggiator, which can populate up to eight patterns from a single chord. You can combine and transpose different arpeggio algorithms to create complex, evolving evolving dynamically, depending on notes being played.
The library for Kontakt 5.6.6 or higher (full version) includes 56 presets in Kontakt snapshot format. Note that the interface requires 1000×750 pixels of screen space, which is larger than standard Kontakt instruments.
Orchestra Enigmatica is available exclusively from Kontakt Hub at an intro price of £30 GBP + VAT (regular £48 GBP).
