Ericsound Plugins has released FreeeQ and UniQ, two equalizer plugins for Windows and Mac.
The FreeeQ is a high-quality 3 band ‘instant results’ EQ which is also highly optimized (especially considering what it’s doing ‘under the hood’) for CPU usage, so you can use this on loads of tracks in your mix.
