The son of legendary veteran reggae artist Freddie McGregor, Di Genius has collaborated with artists such as John Legend, Shakira, Damian Marley, and many others. In 2017, Billboard.com listed him as one of the producers who brought dancehall back to the mainstream, noting his work on Drake’s hit song “Controlla” off the multi-platinum selling album Views. In his first sample pack, Di Genius leans into his original energizing sound that melds “playfulness, the spatial drama of a movie soundtrack, and orchestral brio,” as described by journalist Vivien Goldman in the New York Times.
