Splice explores dancehall’s influences, impact, and identity in a beyond dancehall feature, releasing three exclusive sample packs geared toward the genre of Jamaican popular music.
Grammy Award-winning music producer Di Genius goes beyond Dancehall with Sound Killa, a collection of over 200 loops, one shots and presets including drums and percussion, synths, bass and guitar, vocals and more.
The son of legendary veteran reggae artist Freddie McGregor, Di Genius has collaborated with artists such as John Legend, Shakira, Damian Marley, and many others. In 2017, Billboard.com listed him as one of the producers who brought dancehall back to the mainstream, noting his work on Drake’s hit song “Controlla” off the multi-platinum selling album Views. In his first sample pack, Di Genius leans into his original energizing sound that melds “playfulness, the spatial drama of a movie soundtrack, and orchestral brio,” as described by journalist Vivien Goldman in the New York Times.
With his Splice samples used in top albums by Bad Bunny, Burna Boy, Post Malone, and more, krs. has returned with his new pack Build a Vybz Vol. 3, in which he builds the vibes and sets the mood with his infectious grooves, distinctive drums, and signature production style.
Soulful Dancehall Volume 1 by Jamaican producer, manager, and A&R extraordinaire JAXX takes you past the edges of dancehall into rap, hip hop, pop, and beyond, always incorporating his signature style and Caribbean roots. JAXX’s production credits include some of the hottest artists hailing from Jamaica, such as Yung Ras, Stalk Ashley, and Platinum-seeling Kranium.
The sample packs and all individual sounds are available to Splice subscribers. New users can try Splice Sounds with a 14-day free trial.
