Cherry Audio has announced the release of a virtual synthesizer instrument designed in collaboration with Carmine Bonanno, the original designer of the CAT synthesizer.
Originally released in 1976, the Octave Electronics CAT was an affordable alternative to expensive portable analog synthesizers of the day. Cherry Audio’s Octave Cat has successfully replicated the sound and feel of one of history’s most beloved synthesizers, taking it to new heights with added features that that further enhance its sonic potential.
Developed in partnership with The CAT’s original designer, Octave Cat retains all the growl of the original hardware’s fat, savage sound and replicates its aggressive resonant filter. Octave Cat features the flexible modulation, screaming audio-range oscillator cross-mod, and fierce oscillator sync of the original hardware, and extends it with expanded polyphony, a robust integrated effects suite, and a versatile dual-step sequencer.
Available for Windows and Mac (VST/VST3, AU and AAX), Octave Cat is on sale at the Cherry Audio store and from distributors Plugin Boutique and ADSR Sounds for the introduction price of $49 USD for a limited time (regular $69 USD).
