Crocus Soundware has released a Kontakt edition of the Liminal: Winds sample library, which was previously available for Steinberg’s HALion Sonic SE.

The library features closely recorded flutes, ranging from a small fife to a large contra-ass constructed out of 12 feet of industrial tubing.

The library’s articulations are textured and evolving, with the performer imparting character and movement into each sample. The flutes were mic’d in proximity to the embouchure hole, providing characteristic breath into each sample. The library is suited to add unpredictable nuance, detail and texture. This library is not intended for fast passages or soaring melodies. It is suited as a collection of naturalistic pads for underscoring or soundscapes.

The user-interface allows articulations to be layered, mixed and reversed. LFO controls can be enabled, allowing your DAW’s tempo to dictate the modulation of an individual layer’s volume. This opens the door for tempo-synced swells and unleashes even more creative possibilities for evolving texture.

Comprising both Kontakt and HALion Sonic SE editions, the sample library featuring 9 core articulations, 3 creatively processed articulations, and 60 presets, Liminal: Winds is on sale from the Crocus Soundware website at an introductory price of $36 USD until January 5th, 2022 (regular $60 USD).

A bundle with Chamber String Textures is $60 USD instead of $120 USD.
