Edifier International has announced that its Sound To Go portable speaker has received the 2011 Red Dot Award for Product Design.
More than 1,700 companies from 60 countries submitted products to compete for the internationally recognized mark of quality, the Red Dot. A label for excellent design, the ‘Sound To Go’ reflects the aesthetic quality sought after by the expert jury.
Despite its ultra-compact shape, the Edifier ‘Sound To Go’ delivers powerful stereo sound. It features one oblong 3-inch subwoofer and two 1-inch mid-range drivers and two 1-inch tweeter drivers, along with a built-in amplifier and a handy volume control. Although it measures just 10-1/2 inches wide by 1-1/2 inches high by 1-3/4 inches deep, the ‘Sound To Go’ delivers clear, immersive stereo sound, thanks to its precision high-quality magnetically shielded drivers. The speaker’s rich, brushed-aluminum finish is accented by its black front grille and sidepieces, for a look that complements any laptop.
“Edifier’s Sound To Go continues to exceed our expectations by winning its third award in just this one year,” said Anthony Wilkinson, Managing Director, Edifier International Ltd. “Recognition on this level supports our goal of becoming a world-class, internationally recognized company.”
The Red Dot Design Award is a coveted international product design prize awarded by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Essen, Germany. Outstanding design quality and trendsetters are ideal candidates for this award. The winners will be celebrated at the Essen Aalto-Theater and then at the red dot design museum on July 4th.
