Bunker Samples has just released its latest Kontakt instrument library featuring the sounds of a solo viola. Dedicated only to quiet sounds, Intimate Viola “Iremia” delivers a beautiful sounding virtual viola, full of detail, intimacy and humanity – an instrument that quietly pulls you in and whispers you all its secrets.
By playing extremely softly, all the little details and imperfections in the sound that you rarely hear is brought to the forefront, creating a great sense of intimacy and humanity – emphasised even further by the warm and dark sonority of the viola.
Recorded in a top studio with 5 microphone positions, 3 of which are unusually close perspectives, the instrument library contains 11 static sustains of varying intensities, 10 textures including bow and vibrato pulses, fluctuating tremolo and more, and 3 flavors of natural swells.
Every articulation was recorded both with and without mute, and with the x-fade patches you can seamlessly morph from the dark muted sound into the brighter, un-muted sound, creating a highly expressive and playable virtual instrument, that would be impossible to pull off in real life.
