UVI’s latest virtual instrument aims to deliver a modern reimagining of the iconic ARP Odyssey duophonic analog synthesizer.
Debuting in 1972, it was ahead of its time, offering powerful performance features, outstanding analog sound, color-coded controls, preset patch panel overlays to aid in programming, all contained in a small and portable form-factor. Its unique voice quality and analog character has kept it a sought-after instrument, and while it has seen numerous evolutions and reissues over the years, for us nothing beats the original white-face Mk1, which we used exclusively in the development of HX-ODDY.
HX-ODDY combines deep sampling of the hardware with two new layers of hardware-based wavetables and physically-modeled filters, providing a powerful and versatile toolset for both customizing existing patches, and creating your own. This sample-based approach is of course less flexible than 100% synthesis. But the sound quality is amazing. So as someone who often prefers presets, I like it.

I have the hardware odyssey and the 2600. Great machines but they tie you to the studio. The vst would be a great companion and perfect for on the go when I am using my laptip sketching out ideas. And who knows it might become a studio regular as well.
