Phuturetone has released a free virtual analog synthesizer instrument for Windows and Mac as part of the KVR Developer Challenge 2021.
GR-8 features 8 voices with mono, unison, chord, and poly modes, glide, legato, voice detune and stereo spread. It has 2 oscillators with various waveforms, cross modulation (FM), Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) and sync.
The built-in arpeggiator has 5 modes and a 4 octave range. On the filter section you’ll find a non-resonant high pass and resonant low pass filter (12, 18, or 24 dB/Octave), and the synth has various modulation options (pitch bend, modwheel, LFO, and 2 envelopes).
A separate panel on the interface features various effects: EQ, Distortion, Phaser, Chorus/Flanger, Delay, and Reverb. The preset browser also has its own screen and the synth included 88 presets in various categories (arp, bass, chord, lead, pad, and sfx).
GR-8 is available to download at no charge in VST3 and AU plugin formats. Users of NI Reaktor can grab the free Philthy and Phutura 2 synthesizers from the Phuturetone website as well, and two ReFills are available for use in Reason.
