Neural DSP has recently launched the next iteration of its bass plugin, bringing valuable new capabilities and enhancements to an already feature-packed plugin.

For decades, parallel bass processing has been the cornerstone for creating powerful bass tones. The Neural DSP Parallax plugin launched in 2019 revolutionized this process by offering comprehensive parallel processing within a single plugin, providing everything you need to craft the ultimate bass tone – combining precision, flexibility, and power in a single, intuitive interface.

The updated Parallax X plugin builds on this foundation with several key updates, including the addition of Transpose and Live Tuner global features, a Metronome, and a new Maximum window size with ‘Click-and-Drag’ window edges for easy resizing. It also introduces new factory presets, a revamped UI for easier navigation and a more intuitive user experience, a redesigned Spectrum Analyzer, and improved system performance.

“The arrival of Neural DSP’s Parallax X plugin offers even more ways to shape and manage bass tones,” states Douglas Castro, Neural DSP Technologies CEO.

“The original Parallax plugin gave musicians previously unheard-of capabilities for developing powerful and original bass tones, in which low, mid, and high frequencies are processed separately, in parallel, and then mixed back together. Parallax X underscores our continued commitment to refine and elevate that revolution in bass.”

Low Compression
The plugin features dedicated processing for the low-end of the spectrum, precisely controlled by our bus-compressor algorithm, provides a seemingly infinite amount of dimensionality, allowing you to dial in presence, definition, and clarity.

>Distortion
The mid and treble EQ bands are processed separately, using our proprietary tube-modeling technology, resulting in rich harmonics and a natural response. Dedicated Mid Distortion adds a throatier color and enhances articulation, while Treble Distortion allows you to add the perfect amount of fuzz and defining edge to the sound. Meanwhile, a six-band graphic equalizer provides an additional control layer, for fine-tuning the frequency response to perfection.

>Cabsim
A comprehensive cabinet simulation section features six virtual microphones that can be moved around the speaker for maximum sonic flexibility. When distorted, the higher end of the register truly benefits from well-captured speaker impulses, as the inherent frequency response shapes the distortion in a very musical manner. The cabsim module only affects the Mid and High band, leaving the critical low end completely independently tunable.

Importantly, Parallax X is installed as a separate version of the plugin, meaning that the installation process does not delete the legacy Parallax plugin version, keeping existing audio sessions safe. During the setup, legacy user Presets are automatically imported into the Parallax X user folder.

“The Neural DSP Parallax plugin brought bass processing into the 21st century, and the updates to Parallax X takes it steps further,” states Dan Davies, Neural DSP Technologies Chief Marketing Officer.

“With Parallax X, we look at the bass as a complete instrument, sonically and spectrally. It offers musicians the ability to finely tune the tonality and the dynamics of each range of the bass in order to fashion truly unique and creative sounds.”

The new Parallax X plugin for Windows and Mac (VST/VST3, AU, AAX and standalone) is a free update to existing Parallax plugin users.
