Plughugger has announced the release of Atari Avalon, a free sound expansion with 88 new sounds for the Spectrasonics Omnisphere 2 with an old-school retro-twist.
Back in the day when the Atari ST was the hottest music computer, german software developer Steinberg not only invented the Cubase sequencer, but created a highly advanced audio editor years ahead of its time. Among the highlights was a virtual modular synth engine where the user could create own synth sounds.
Atari Avalon takes the sounds of Steinberg Avalon and takes them into the modern age with the Omnisphere 2 engine, utilising everything from the granular engine to the new step sequencer.
The soundset is available for download for free, but requires a full installation of Spectrasonics Omnisphere 2.1.
