RJ Studios has released an update to the Pristine Peaks ultra-low distortion peak limiter. Version 1.2.0 includes a new Output Fader control and “Black Tie” user interface.

The new Output Fader control is post-limiter/pre-dither which provides:

  • Fast selection of final output levels without changing the gain reduction dialed in by the Gain and Ceiling controls. Make a master at 0dB for CD release then simply double click on the output fader and type in “-1” for a new streaming level release – all while maintaining proper dither levels.
  • Automate fade-ins and fade-outs that properly apply dither levels post-limiter without the need for any external gain plugins, multiple plugin instances or channel routing. The post-limiter/pre-dither Output Fader control has a smooth “console-like” gain curve which creates pleasing fade-ins and fade-outs using simple linear DAW automation slopes.

Owners of Pristine Peaks can download the v1.2.0 update at no charge, while new users can try the plugin with a free 14-day trial.

RJ Studios has also recently released a new audio plugin titled dB Smooth, a FIR-based 4-quadrant dynamics processor for Windows and Mac.

dB Smooth provides a uniquely smooth sound due to its use of Finite Impulse Response (FIR) vs. traditional analog style level detectors. The FIR detectors are very precise and exactly surround the current audio sample producing a uniquely “smooth” sound at all settings.

db Smooth also employs a unique “Unity gain threshold” where boost and cut are applied above and below this setting for gain matching by design. This approach allows the user to change compression/expansion ratios without having to re-adjust makeup gain levels.

The plugin is priced $59.95 USD. It comes in VST/VST3, AU and AAX formats for Windows and Mac.
