Sonic Zest has announced its new Kora library for Kontakt, a virtual instrument that offers the sounds of a 21-string harp from Mali.
We spent January working with the renowned Kora player Josh Doughty, meticulously sampling his favourite West African harp in a London studio. This is the only dedicated deeply-sampled Kora sample library available.
The Kora is a 21-string West-African harp, that has been played for centuries in Mali. When played softly it sounds like a beautiful orchestral harp. When play hard it is a slight twangy sound evoking images of West Africa and mildly reminiscent of a guzheng. The tremolo patches are a favourites and create a fantastic stereo swarm sound.
Kora features
- Deeply sampled Kora West African harp, over 1,500 samples.
- 9 patches, 18 samples per note (6 round robins and 3 velocity layers).
- 2 mic positions: pick-up and stereo close mic.
- Articulations: Normale, Harmonics, Slow Tremolo, Fast Tremolo, Staccato, Glissando & Trills.
- 1.96 GB download (2.54 GB when extracted).
The Kora library is on sale for $99 USD this week only with coupon code SZKORA at checkout. The regular price is $130 USD.
