Source Audio has announce the immediate release of a groundbreaking new technology for exploring the wide world of tones available in Source Audio effects pedals.
Using only a mobile device or a desktop computer, SoundCheck allows users to instantly hear sound samples from the over 10,000 factory and user-created pedal presets published to NEURO, the company’s free editing and preset management software.
Without owning a single piece of Source Audio equipment, anyone can experience the company’s entire line of effects pedals in a deeply immersive manner with perfect sound replication. For those who do own Source Audio pedals, SoundCheck offers a very effective and convenient means to browse, tweak, create, and manage presets without plugging in a guitar, amplifier, or effects pedal.
“Years ago, we envisioned a technology that would let musicians instantly and fully experience the sound of our pedals, without being delayed by the logistics of having a guitar and amp,” said Source Audio CEO Roger Smith.
“With SoundCheck, we’ve eliminated those logistics, empowering anyone, anywhere, to immediately access the precise tones of any Source Audio pedal or preset. I’m incredibly proud of the innovations we’ve brought to the pedal world over the past 20 years, but transforming how musicians explore and evaluate sounds is truly one of our most exciting and groundbreaking achievements.”
SoundCheck features a comprehensive collection of unaffected, pre-recorded guitar, bass, and keyboard clips. Each clip can be played through any of NEURO 3’s growing library of presets created by the Source Audio staff and the nearly 100,000 musicians around the world that make up the NEURO Community.
Using just a mobile device or desktop computer, users can simply select a preset in NEURO 3, choose a sound clip, and instantly hear it processed through the preset. In real-time, SoundCheck matches the preset’s exact parameter settings, emulating the precise tones of the corresponding Source Audio pedal. Additionally, a finely tuned impulse response (IR) perfectly emulates the sound of a Source Audio pedal running through a stereo pair of real guitar or bass amplifiers.
SoundCheck also allows users to make parameter adjustments in NEURO 3’s advanced effects editor and immediately hear the results using the pre-recorded guitar clips. Once perfected, presets can be saved to the user’s private, cloud-based library or shared with the NEURO community, making them accessible to anyone using the platform. The entire process of preset creation can be done on a phone or computer.
Another new feature in NEURO 3 is Guest Mode. Guest Mode gives anyone who has downloaded the app the ability to quickly access a selection of NEURO features without creating a personal account or signing in to an existing one. Features accessible in Guest Mode include listening to pedal presets in SoundCheck, downloading presets to pedals, and editing presets with the NEURO editor. Access to advanced interactive features, such as saving presets to a personal library, creating a personal account with social media links, or interacting with preset listings by liking or leaving comments requires the user to create an account.
The SoundCheck rollout runs for 14 days. Each day, Source Audio will introduce a curated collection of SoundCheck presets for a new pedal. To celebrate the launch, Source Audio will give away a different pedal every day. NEURO Community members can sign up to win each day’s pedal, by making a comment on their favorite preset. The winner will be randomly drawn from each day’s entries and announced on Friday, April 4th, 2025.
At the conclusion of the rollout, Source Audio will fully open SoundCheck, giving users complete access to explore the over 10,000 presets currently available in NEURO.
