xoxos has released Pling3, an all-purpose plucked string model suitable for synthesis and emulations.
Pling3 applies my ideal of technologies used for modeling plucked strings. The instrument presents an elementary platform which can be combined with resonator effects to improve emulations.
The VST aesthetic emphasises low cpu resourcing, accordingly the architecture consists of a filtered pick impulse commuted to a damped and allpassed orthographic string model, and then to two first order mass-springs as helmholtz resonances.
Pling3 is available as a VST instrument for Windows PC and costs $20 USD. A demo version can be downloaded (limited to two voices of polyphony).
