Voxengo has released version 2.0 of SPAN, a freeware real-time “fast Fourier transform” audio spectrum analyzer plug-in for Windows and Mac.
For the most part it was derived from Voxengo GlissEQ dynamic parametric equalizer and reproduces its spectrum analysis functionality.

112dB has announced the release of version 1.0.4 of Redline Monitor, a high-quality near-field monitor simulation for headphones.
Redline Monitor is a listening, mixing, and mastering tool. It replaces the extreme stereo separation that is characteristic for headphones with the detailed stereo image of near-field monitor speakers.
Changes in Redline Monitor v1.0.4
- Dim attenuation selectable from -3dB to -12dB to prevent clipping.
- Dim attenuation disabled when the plugin is bypassed.
- Fixed: Option to disable tooltips wasn’t remembered after closing the plugin.
- Fixed: The plugin caused a +6dB level increase on OS X.
- Fixed: The installer mistakenly warned about Windows 7 not being supported.
Redline Monitor is available to purchase as an effect plug-in for Windows and Mac (VST/AU/RTAS), priced at 99 EUR/$99 USD. The update is free download for registered users.

Blue Cat Audio has updated its Analysis Plug-ins for Windows and Mac.
We are happy to announce the update of our audio analysis plugins: the new versions include RTAS plugin format support for Pro Tools users as well as 64-bit applications support for both Mac (Audio Unit) and PC (DirectX and VST). We have aslo fixed a couple of issues (mainly on Mac/Snow Leopard).
Changes in Blue Cat Analysis Plug-ins
- RTAS plugin format support for Pro Tools (Mac and Windows).
- 64-bit applications support for Windows DX and VST under Windows x64.
- Mac AU 64-bit format support (compatible with 64-bit Logic 9.1 on Snow Leopard)
- Fixed MIDI learn issues.
- Space bar does not trigger plug-in buttons anymore (avoids conflict with transport control in most applications).
- Mac: fixed user interface crashes in some hosts under Snow Leopard.
- Mac: fixed keyboard/mouse focus issues in some hosts.

Audiofile Engineering has released version 1.5 of Spectre, a multi-instrument real-time audio analyzer for Mac OS X.
Spectre focuses squarely on live audio analysis by offering 17 different multi-channel and multi-trace meters. Each meter can have any number of traces or indicators, and each trace can have it’s own number of input channels, gain, mixing, filtering, ballistics and color (including transparency). You can have as many meters (or copies of meters) as your screen will allow! Spectre also gives you very precise control over color gradients.
