MathAudio has released Room EQ VST and Standalone, two room correction programs for Windows.
Room EQ VST has been designed to ensure maximum accuracy of the room correction.
Room EQ Standalone transforms your PC or notebook into a powerful standalone room correction processor which can be included between the source of the audio signal and speakers. Room EQ Standalone includes all features of Room EQ VST.
Room EQ features
- Corrects deficiencies of room acoustics (multipoint compensation).
- Corrects acoustic imperfections of speakers.
- Optimized for maximum accuracy of the correction. Listen to the sound samples.
- Corrects both amplitude and phase components of frequency response.
- Quells resonance peaks of frequency response while leaving the deep notches to prevent large excursions of the speaker diaphragm. Avoids the muddy sound of conventional linearizing equalizers.
- Manually adjustable level of compensation allows one to reach the maximum transparency of the sound.
- Supports ASIO drivers.
- Works with standard measurement microphones.
- Applies a patented method of frequency response correction.
Room EQ is available to purchase for $99.95 USD.

Kevin Kripper has released version 1.4 of the Spectrum Analyzer S8, a spectrum analyzer for Ableton Live.
Spectrum Analyzer S8 is a multiple-track real time spectrum analyzer. It lets you visualize the spectral content of 8 stereo tracks simultaneously.
You can use it as a frequency overlap detector and actually see which part of the spectrum every single instrument uses. The ideal solution for mixing!
Max for Live version of Kevin Kripper’s Spectrum Analyzer S8.Changes in Spectrum Analyzer S8 v1.4
- Update to Live 9.
- Now S8 is post-fader.
- Add a “Show Parameters” button (On/Off)in S8_Receive module.
- Add descriptions in Live’s Info View.
The Max for Live version of Spectrum Analyzer S8 costs $3 USD. A standalone version is $5 USD.

Martin Zuther has released traKmeter, a free loudness meter effect plug-in for correctly setting up tracking and mixing levels.
Most digital audio equipment sadly only has peak meters. This is readily understandable as you want to avoid digital clippings by all means. However, the lack of average meters makes correct gain staging almost impossible.
For gain staging, you need average meters or – even better – a combination of peak and average meters. And this is were traKmeter comes in.
traKmeter has an average level meter that is centered around -20 dB FS RMS and a peak level meter that is aligned to -9 dB FS. It supports stereo and 8-channel audio signals, has two scales, two ballistics modes and is very easy to use. Additionally, all meters have been thoroughly validated.
traKmeter features
- Peak and average (RMS) meters.
- Stereo and 8-channel operation.
- Meter scales: “K-20″ and digital full-scale.
- Two types of meter ballistics, reset button.
- Mixing mode for changing the gain (pre-meter).
- Validation of read-out.
traKmeter is free software. Both the source code as well as binaries for Windows and Linux (VST) are available to download.

Red Rock Sound has released two new Rack Extensions for Propellerhead Reason.
The RE 60 is a real time spectrum analyser modeled after Klark Teknik’s DN60, originally developed in 1980.
The RE 60 is modeled after the classic DN60 spectrum analyzer. The Red Rock Sound RE60 real time 1/3 octave Spectrum Analyser combines ease of use, accuracy and versatility in one economical, reliable unit.
The Measure is a sophisticated metering and measurement tool that allows you to visually analyze your audio signal in several useful ways.
When folded, Measure shows the key indicators on the front panel.Too loud mixes often sound squashed, and in long mixing sessions your ears often get used to the squashed sound so you´re losing objectivity. The Measure will show you Peak and RMS values of your mixes, phase correlation between Left and Right and the number of Overs. When working with a stereo signal, choose Sum/Diff mode to make sure there is no energy drop in the sum which could be caused by phasing problems and that the difference (diff) is not too low compared to the sum.
Both Rack Extensions are available at the Propellerhead Shop, priced at 29 EUR for RE 60 and 12 EUR for Measure.

Voxengo has released version 2.5 of SPAN, a free real-time “fast Fourier transform” audio spectrum analyzer plugin for professional music and audio production applications.
For the most part it was derived from Voxengo GlissEQ dynamic parametric equalizer and reproduces its spectrum analysis functionality.SPAN provides you with a very flexible “mode” system which you can use to setup your spectrum analyzer preferences. You may specify Fourier block size in samples, FFT window overlap percentage, spectrum’s visual slope. Beside that you can choose to display secondary spectrum of a desired type (e.g. real-time maximum, all-time maximum). Spectrum can be smoothed out visually for an easier examination.
Changes in SPAN v2.5
- Crash issue reported in Apple Logic Pro fixed.
- If secondary spectrum is active, the delta between primary and secondary spectrums at cursor position is now displayed.
- A crash related to UI resizing function fixed.
SPAN for Windows and Mac (VST/AU) is available to download as freeware.
