Impact Soundworks Trial Pack

Impact Soundworks has announced the release of the Impact Soundworks Trial Pack, a free download showcasing a collection of 26 carefully-selected Kontakt patches and 32 loops from their critically-acclaimed catalog of sampled instruments.

The Trial Pack contains a wide range of sounds including ambient textures, world instruments, guitars, bass, percussion, and even patches from the recently-released CURIO: Cinematic Toy Piano.

All patches in the Trial Pack are royalty-free with no licensing or usage restrictions. The instrument selections comprise libraries like Resonance, Shreddage, Koto Nation, Forest Frame Drums, Impact: Steel, Plectra Series 1-3, and several others, showcasing key elements of each: for example, an octave of the 8-string acoustic bouzouki, several deep-sampled percussive strokes from Sitar Nation, or the powerchords of Shreddage.

Impact Soundworks was founded in 2007 by composers Andrew Aversa and Will Roget, II with the goal of creating innovative, affordable and unique sample libraries “designed with composers in mind.” Its critically acclaimed catalog of instruments has been used by thousands of composers around the world in film, television, video game and other music productions.

“Our goal with the Trial Pack is to provide composers with a small, but delicious, slice of our full catalog,” said Aversa. “It’s an excellent way to introduce yourself to our sounds, or to try our libraries before buying the full versions.”

In addition to the sounds themselves, many patches in the Trial Pack include the full user interface from their respective libraries. For example, users can build sounds using the full ensemble builder from Impact: Steel, sculpt custom patches with Curio’s full FX rack, or fine-tune the textures of Resonance.

The Impact Soundworks Trial Pack is available as a free digital download.

Impact Soundworks releases Curio – Cinematic Toy Piano for Kontakt

Impact Soundworks Curio

Impact Soundworks has announced the release of Curio, a new virtual instrument compilation for Kontakt 4+ featuring a deeply sampled, prepared, and deconstructed toy piano conceptualized and recorded by sound designer Ali Lacey.

CURIO contains 23 different patches created from acoustic/electronic sound sources and re-synthesis techniques. These patches feature a treasure trove of atonal material, percussion, and textures including mallet and pluck articulations, bowing/tapping ambience, FX, processed hits, wet hits, and deep bass hits.

“Sometimes the humblest of instruments provides a wealth of inspirational material. Curio is a brilliant example of this! In contrast to ‘epic’, high-energy and intense sounds, the sounds of Curio have a subtle, ethereal quality that we think you’ll find highly captivating and useful,” said Aversa.

To inspire new and unique sound design possibilities, CURIO has a beautiful scripted interface with deep editing controls, including filters, EQs, convolution, and more. In addition, the 1400+ samples used in the designing process are included as NCW and standalone WAV for drag-and-drop use and further editing, mangling, and re-processing.

Curio Cinematic Toy Piano features

  • 23 unique instrument patches for KONTAKT 4+.
  • Deep-sampled mallets and plucks.
  • Bowed ambience, tapping, shaking textures.
  • Processed and natural percussive hits.
  • Tonal and atonal textures / sweeps.
  • Deep bass plucks and FX.
  • Hybrid airy/synthesized and chromatic sounds.
  • Intimate micing.
  • Beautiful scripted interface.
  • Envelopes, filters and user-controlled FX.
  • 1,400+ samples available as both NCW and standalone WAV for further mangling.

Impact Soundworks releases Juggernaut: Cinematic Electronic Scoring Tools for Kontakt

Impact Soundworks Juggernaut

Impact Soundworks has announced the release of Juggernaut: Cinematic Electronic Scoring Tools, a comprehensive collection of synthesized percussion, basses, and FX for Native Instruments Kontakt and Kontakt Player.

With sounds from a team of top designers, including Mick Gordon, Erik Ekholm, and Jordan Fehr, this cinematic toolbox was custom-built for hybrid scoring, EDM, and musical sound design.

Juggernaut features over 500 24-bit sounds ranging from impacts, sweeps, risers, and textures, to drum kits, oneshots, and synth basses. The Drums/FX engine includes 6 different FX categories that supply users with powerful cinematic hits and transitions. The Drum library ranges from physically modeled percussion instruments such as bodhrans, taikos, and roto toms, to kicks, thips, snares, and crashes. Each highly-polished sound was crafted from scratch by the design team without the use of drum machines.

“Modern soundtracks, trailers and music productions use more electronic elements than ever,” said Aversa, lead designer of the library. “Our goal with Juggernaut was to create an arsenal of bleeding-edge, pure electronic sounds that are ideal for scoring work, whether layered with acoustic and orchestral elements, or solo in a mix.”

In addition to the Drum/FX patch, a powerful Bass Patch is included with Juggernaut. This patch includes a subtractive-style synth engine with filter/amp envelopes, over 50 distinct bass waveforms, and a 16-step rhythmic gater/retrigger sequencer along with time-synced options for filtering and modwheel control.
