u-he has launched the first part in a series of tutorial videos by Dan Worrall on the ACE virtual modular synthesizer instrument.
The first in Dan Worrall’s 4-part series about u-he’s ACE modular synthesizer.
ACE belongs to a new generation of synthesizers developed with the latest, fastest computers in mind. ACE offers classic modular synthesis and more at a fraction of the cost of dedicated hardware. But like its hardware forebears, you can patch any output into any input: the number of different ways to connect modules together is practically infinite. Needless to say, you will never run out of cables!
ACE for Windows and Mac (VST/AU) is available to purchase for 69 EUR.

u-he has released rev 2211 of its ACE, Diva, Filterscape, MFM, Podolski, Satin, Triple Cheese, Uhbik, Zebra, and ZebraCM plug-ins.
In an effort to become more agile we’re going to offer more frequent updates of our stuff. Whenever we change any code, we always build all products for all platforms. So we also have all products with the most recent changes, improvements and bug fixes, but also with the latest bugs – some of which we might not experience in our environment. So by puting out latest builds we hope to provide bug fixes early, and also get early feedback on bugs that just happened. Which then get fixed quickly.
Changes in rev 2211
- hopefully fixed possible crash on PT auto save (AAX).
- fixed possible crash on closing down VST3 versions.
- fixed possible crash when unloading Diva.
- fixed permissions issue in VST2 Mac directory (this time, no tampering at all).
- workaround for Maschine hang.
- fix for wrong settings folder in Pro Tools.
- fixed missing string representation in VST2 automation.
- fixed potential memory problem at high samplerates (Diva, maybe Satin).
- fixed possible crash in Diva digital Osc.
- fixed possible crash in Diva Rotary Effect.
- fixed possible crash in Preset save.
- removed few more memory leaks.
- improved Map Editors (ACE/Zebra).
- Added high-precision CPU meter (internal use, logging only atm).
The new revision of u-he plug-ins is available to download from the u-he forum at KVR Audio.

Hans Hafner of Good Loops has released a free Lemur template for the Zebra 2 synthesizer instrument from u-he.
The main panel contains the XY-pads as well as controls for the Envelopes and basic controls for the LFOs.
Yesterday I finally bought Lemur for iPad and WOW. Creating your own setups is so easy compared to other solutions that I tried in the past. So I created a controller surface for Zebra2 in a couple of hours.
The template includes 7 panels, and is available to download from Good Loops at no charge.

Plughugger has launched The Second Renaissance, a soundset for the Diva virtual analog synthesizer by u-he, featuring 150 new sounds aimed for modern dance music.
The Second Renaissance is a collection of sounds aimed for modern popular dance music genres and is squarely built on the new “Digital oscillator” introduced with Diva 1.3. This soundset contains no Moog or Roland oscillators – but brings out the new sounds capable with the new oscillator.
While the new oscillator quickly got known as the “Supersaw oscillator”, it has to be said it’s much more than a supersaw, and is actually the most versatile sound source in Diva, with everything from gorgeous triangle waves and wicked feedback sounds to tunable noise and incredible lush stacked sounds with the supersaw.
The soundset is available to purchase for the introductory price of 9.90 EUR until March 31st, 2014 (regular 14.90 EUR).

The Unfinished has launched Zebra Serenity and Zebra Serenity: Dark Edition, two soundsets for the Zebra synthesizer instrument by u-he.
With an emphasis on warm, organic, analogue tones with some bite, this soundset is designed to provide fresh synth noises for modern film scoring and atmospheric electronica. Serenity takes advantage of Zebra2′s extraordinary attention to detail, extensive modular capabilities and highly developed synth engine.
Serenity leans towards the sound of hybrid scores like M83′s Oblivion, Daft Punk’s Tron: Legacy and Harry Gregson-Williams’ Total Recall; where classic, analogue synth warmth meets the searing, modern virtual analogue.
There also nods to the more laidback, lo-fi world of neo-classical too, with ambient padscapes and dusty, slightly broken synths; inspired by artists such as Johan Johansson, Hammock and A Winged Victory for the Sullen.
The Dark Edition expansion takes the original 128 Serenity sounds and tweaks, modifies and fine tunes them for Zebra HZ. Whilst these are not completely brand new patches, they take the original sounds into new sonic territory, taking advantage of Zebra HZ’s lush analogue Diva filters and VCA compressors, adding extra analogue warmth, bite and darkness.
Zebra Serenity is available to purchase for £19.99 GBP; The Dark Edition (includes Zebra Serenity) is £29.99 GBP.
