Virharmonic has announced the release of version 1.5 of its Voices of Prague sample library for UVI, feautring a hand picked selection of top singers from the world renowned ‘Prague Philharmonic Choir’.
When version one came out at the end of September 2012, we were eagerly awaiting our users feedback. We were amazed at how well VoP was received. VoP is now used by Choir masters for mock ups, University lectures in their lessons and even helped composers to get their choral works performed live by renowned choirs. It comes as no surprise that our library has also been used in TV and Games industry and we are very pleased to see that our customers are eager to put VoP into action.
We have listened very carefully to all the feedback and have been trying to come up with ways to implement all the amazing functions which our users came up with. This new and fresh perspective lead us to a simple realization. What we wanted to do couldn’t (or at least we have no idea how)be done on our old platform of choice. We had so many ideas and very few solution on how to implement them. Then MachFive 3 accidently came under our radar and we got into talks with the guys who made it. We suddenly realized that functions we wanted were possible without cooking the CPU, overloading the ram or high latency. The first work on the update started and as it included a complete rewrite and brand new logic for the whole programme we got stuck into the samples as well.

Acousticsamples has announced the release of the Clavi D9, a sound library based on the well-known clavinet D6 by Hohner.
It is probably one of the most “funky” instruments ever invented, despite the fact that it was originally intended for classical music as its sound is close to the hapsichord. It turns out that it was very well suited to replace or double a rhythmic guitar and was used in many Funk and Disco hits. The clavinet has 5 octaves (60 keys) and works in a simple way, when you press a note, the string is pressed against a bridge just like a hammer-on on a guitar, the non muted part of the string vibrates and the pickups amplify the sound.
The D6 has very few controls, 4 eq switches and 2 pickup switches to choose which pickup has to be used plus a global volume. We recorded both pickups and we modeled precisely the eqs, as a result you can use the whites switches exactly like on the real instrument. We sampled every possible aspect of the instrument, normal notes, staccatos, releases, mutes, every pickup, sympathetic resonances and more to give you the most authentic Clavinet sound possible.
Clavi D9 features
2,76Gb, around 4500 samples.
Precise simulation of the original filters.
Separation of both pickups and independant volume.
High quality Amp simulations with the most used models.
Real Wah effect with different pedal models.
Complete FX selection with Phaser, Flanger, Tremolo, Chorus, Distortion and Spring Reverb.
Real mute samples.
Control over the MIDI response of the library.
Advanced UVI scripting giving you access to a simple yet powerfull interface and advanced features.
The Clavi D9 for UVI Workstation 2 and MachFive 3 is available to purchase for $99 / 79 EUR.
UVI has introduced the UVI UltraMini, a hybrid instrument that includes two fully independent instruments with uniquely skinned GUIs – inspired by the Minimoog D 1971 and the Minimoog Voyager XL 2011 (Limited Edition).
The Minimoog was made available to the public in 1971 and continued to be produced with very little change over the next 10 years. Considered the most popular synth ever by some, there’s no doubt the instrument has led a prolific life, leaving a massive wake in its path – changing perceptions and influencing synthesizer design to this day. The Minimoog has a near-perfect balance of simplicity and sonic beauty.
One of UVI’s specialties is making hybrid instruments. High fidelity sample-based waveforms produced by real circuits; in real machines give the instrument a pure sound from the start. Then accurately modeled filters and effects are used on the backend to shape and control the sound, spending precious CPU cycles only where they’re needed. For this approach to work, you need to build an amazing library of sounds and marry them to a truly advanced DSP engine. This is exactly what UVI have done for UltraMini thanks to hundreds of man-hours of tedious multisampling and the award-winning UVI Engine™.
UVI UltraMini features
Amplitude and filter key follow.
Color and drive control.
A built in bit crusher.
Limiter and our advanced algorithmic reverb – SparkVerb.
Built-in phraser and arpeggiator assignable per-oscillator.
Step and LFO modulations and a huge library of expertly crafted presets.
The UltraMini for UVI Workstation 2 and MachFive 3 is available to purchase for $149 USD.
