British music technology start-up 36db has launched its first run of professional-level Ableton Live production Environments.
Created by GRAMMY-nominated producers Barry Jamieson and Dave Gardner, 36db’s innovative Environments provide producers old and new with a one-stop way to instantly boost their electronic music production skillset, offering creators access to never-before-revealed techniques used by some of electronic music’s all-time greats.
Priced £50 per Environment, and with Environment themes ranging from Drum & Bass and Techno to Progressive House and Electronica, customers receive fully functioning instruments, drum racks, FX chains, channel strips and MIDI, all in one easy-to-implement package.
36db features
- Fully functioning instruments, drum racks, FX chains, channel strips & MIDI.
- Drums come in two formats: individual channels, or pattern-based for those who like to work in drum racks/patterns.
- Instruments have tweakable sounds. The parameters are mapped to macros, allowing creators to play around with them.
- Effects and processing are tailored to each Environment’s genre.
- Every sound comes as an instrument rack or track preset with MIDI which can be auditioned in the Ableton browser, opening up the modular aspect. This allows the producer to drag and drop all instruments into other 36db Environments or their own productions.
- Environments are licensed for use in original compositions, in perpetuity.
There’s no hardware required, and each Environment uses only Ableton Live’s native plugins, synths and samplers. 36db’s advanced software allows the creator to produce solely within each Environment, or to take any individual element of the Environment and place it into their own projects.
36db creators Barry Jamieson and Dave Gardner were involved in the early development of software for Ableton Live, Sonnox and Solid State Logic. They’ve also created content for the likes of Native Instruments, Eventide and Arturia, and produced alongside Sasha and John Digweed.
