FabFilter has announced full support for Avid’s new AAX plug-in format, introduced in Pro Tools 10.
AAX versions of all plug-ins (FabFilter Pro-L, Pro-Q, Pro-G, Pro-C, Volcano 2, Twin 2, Timeless 2, One, Simplon and Micro) will be made available in November 2011. Of course, these updates will be free for existing FabFilter users.
Frederik Slijkerman, co-owner of FabFilter Software Instruments: “We always try to adapt to new standards and formats as soon as possible, because we know how important this is for our users. That’s why we’ve
also put serious effort into supporting 64-bit hosts and the VST3 format in the past. During the last months before the Pro Tools 10 release, we’ve worked closely together with Avid to be able to support the new AAX format right away, and we’re very happy to announce this now!”.In the future, the new AAX format will replace Avid’s existing RTAS plug-in format. For now, both AAX and RTAS plug-ins can be used together in Pro Tools 10. The AAX and RTAS versions of all FabFilter plug-ins will be fully compatible with each other.
All FabFilter plug-ins support Windows and Mac OS X in 64-bit and 32-bit, VST and VST 3, Audio Units, RTAS and AudioSuite plug-in formats, with AAX support coming in November 2011.
