Crocus Soundware has released a new volume in its series of evocative human vocalist sample libraries for Native Instruments Kontakt.

The articulations of Liminal: Vocal Textures Volume 2 are expressive and evolving, with the performer imparting character and movement into each sample.

The performers were mic’d closely using large diaphragm condenser microphones, capturing breath and characteristic intimacy into each sample. The library is well-suited to add unpredictability and creative imperfection. The LIMINAL range is not intended for fast passages or soaring melodies. Instead, you may see the libraries as collections of naturalistic pads – offering humanistic details not found in something derived from a synthetic source. Several articulations have a strong focus on rhythm and synchronicity, taking advantage of Kontakt’s Time Machine Pro feature.

The user-interface allows articulations to be layered, mixed and reversed. A new ‘crossfade gizmo’ allows artful blending of sound layers with intuitive color-coded controls. LFO controls can also be enabled, allowing your DAW’s tempo to dictate the modulation of an individual layer’s volume. This opens the door for tempo-synced swells and unleashes even more creative possibilities for evolving texture.

Available for the full version of Kontakt 6.7.1 or higher, the library is on sale at a 40% introductory discount until March 20th, 2024 (regular $70 USD). Additionally, bundles are up to 50% off and individual instrument libraries are 30% off during the promotion.
