Aly James Lab releases vLinn LM-1 drum synth

Aly James Lab has launched vLinn LM-1, a virtual Linn LM-1 drum instrument for Windows.

Aly James Lab vLinn LM-1

The VLINN LM-1 DRUM VST provides the closest experience to the real thing because it is not based on samples, instead it accurately models the clocks and counters that reads EPROMS memory feeding the AM6070 DACs to decode the EPROMS data in realtime, models the CEM 3320 filters with tweakable control over the CV pulses shapes to let more or less transient pass through unfiltered or completely bypass them, special hihat circuitry and VCA providing different hihat sound on each trigger and decay control, separate tuning for all voices with already a wider range without tweaking the electronics…separate outputs for your DAW, velocity handling etc…

You will maintain that raw sound at every tune! On top of the cake 7+1 voices can be replaced with external EPROM data like on a real machine… Opening up a whole new range of sound, still being processed by the circuitry.

The plugin is available for Windows (VST), for a minimum donation of 15 EUR.

Rhythmic Robot intros Rytm16 for Kontakt

Rhythmic Robot has announced the release of Rytm16, a sampled Kontakt recreation of a late-1970s analogue drum machine from Poland.

Rhythmic Robot Rytm16

As well as individual drum instrument hits it has 16 onboard preset rhythms (all of which have been beatsliced so they sync to your host DAW), and each preset has two variations, which introduces a nice element of groove. Although it features the usual vintage drum machine suspects (slow rock, cha cha, bossa nova) the Rytm16′s real claim to fame lies in its five separate Disco beats, making it instantly applicable for anyone wanting to recreate classic Disco rhythms, or to reuse Disco motifs in a contemporary setting.

Rytm16 has a warm, soft-edged sound (though the ride cymbals are still sharp and clear). Used solo, it is ideally suited to downtempo styles, chillout, lounge, jazz fusion, and laid-back funk; or it can be layered with modern drum sounds to add a vintage flavour to a contemporary production.

Our recreation of the original machine adds individual pan controls, MIDI velocity control, compression, saturation, distortion and a convolved vintage plate reverb, allowing the user to dial up precisely the drum sound they need.

The library is available for the introductory price of £5.45 GBP for a limited time (regular £5.95 GBP). Requires Kontakt 4.2.3 or later.
