FXpansion has announced the release of DCAM BusComp, a Rack Extension that delivers high-end studio-quality bus compression for your Reason productions.
DCAM BusComp is based on a classic bus compressor design from the centre section of a well-known British large-format mixing console. It is usually intended to be inserted on subgroups like drum mixes or the entire master output in order to make individual tracks sit together for a more cohesive mix, adding punch while still sounding smooth and natural.
As well as a realistic circuit-modelled compression engine, DCAM BusComp also features the ability to use an external sidechain, a built-in saturation circuit and a wet/dry control for parallel compression applications. It also includes a CV output which allows you to modulate other Reason devices with the gain reduction envelope.
DCAM BusComp is available as a download-only product from the Propellerhead Online Shop, priced at $29 USD/25 EUR inc. VAT where applicable.

Standalone-Music has released its Strobe Soundset, a collection of 145 presets by 7 Skies, for the Strobe synthesizer of Fxpansion’s DCAM Synth Squad.
Reviewed as “one of the best Strobe soundest to date”, the Standalone-Music | Strobe Soundset is huge and versatile 145 presets bank for the tiny but powerful synth by Fxpansion.
Many often confuse Strobe as a “bass only” synth but this soundset will prove you otherwise, the patches vary from rich lead sounds to sweet analogue pads, supersaw-like sounds to nasty dubstep sounds and of course a huge variety basses, making this bank extremely versatile and perfect for every kind of music you produce, wether it’s Electro, House, Trance, Dubstep, Pop or Hardstyle.
The soundset is available to purchase for 25 EUR.
Standalone-Music has also announced it is now offering various bundles of its soundsets.
If you ve ever purchased 3 or more of our products in a row you probably noticed that in the past we gave you a little discount. This was never a “public” action on our website, however, we’ve always cared a lot about the support you show us by legally download our releases, so we’ve always tried to be fair with you as you were with us.
It is for this reasons that today we launch “Standalone | Bundles”, 3 different collections (Everything, Virtual and Hardware) that allow you to get 2 or more soundsets at a time but for a different and lower price compared to the one you would get by purchasing the same soundsets separately.
FXpansion has announced the release of its DCAM EnvShaper Rack Extension, a processor for controlling transients in Propellerhead’s Reason music production software.
Front and back panel of the DCAM EnvShaper Rack Extension for Reason.
DCAM EnvShaper takes a different approach to controlling dynamics than conventional compressors. It allows you to adjust the attack and sustain portions of transients within a signal. The technique has all kinds of uses such as increasing the punch of attacks or the apparent size of a sound’s reverb, or for problem-solving tasks like reducing bleed levels in drum mics without using a noise gate.
DCAM EnvShaper also includes a modelled saturation circuit and control over its response to transients of different speeds, providing additional flexibility and creative possibilities.
The Rack Extension is now available to purchase for $29 USD / 25 EUR inc. VAT.
FXpansion has announced the release of its Maul multi-band distortion and tone-shaping plugin with advanced modulation.
Maul is suited to all music requiring powerful sound-sculpting abilities – everything from subtle warming and loudness generation to shredding distortion and experimental creative effects.
Maul features 3 separate drive stages, each of which can act on a different frequency range with any of 32 distortion types. The available algorithms include DCAM-modelled germanium diode, tube and transistor-based circuits, clippers, overdrives, waveshapers of various kinds and bit-crushing devices for digital distortion flavours. Each drive stage also features control over transient-shaping, saturation circuitry and additional post-process tone filtering.
The built-in TransMod modulation system allows you to animate Maul’s parameters with the internal LFOs, envelope follower and sample & hold devices as well as with external MIDI note input. This turns Maul into an extremely flexible device capable of dynamic filter patterns, rhythmic gating effects with extra bite, loudness and harmonic excitation effects and wild, dynamic distortion that can transform your audio.

FXpansion and Sonica have announced the release of Kabuki & Noh Percussion, a fascinating collection of authentically played Japanese percussion instruments and noisemakers.
Evoking the emotions and grandeur of the Kabuki stage, the mysteriously profound aesthetic world of Noh theater, and the reverberations of tapped hand drums, Kabuki & Noh Percussion features 56 percussion instruments used in Kabuki and Noh performances. The collection includes a variety of traditional hand drums, pitched drums, bells, gongs and music boxes alongside Noh flute and authentic vocal motifs. Also included are the ashibyoshi foot beats and tsukeuchi sound-effect clappers crucial to Kabuki performance.
Played by master traditional Japanese percussionist Takinojo Mochizuki with alternating left/right hits at up to 99 velocity layers, Kabuki & Noh Percussion’s stunning detail was captured using well-preserved vintage mics and Neve preamps. The recording sessions were conducted in an anechoic room similar to the bamboo-curtained orchestra room in a Kabuki theater. Reverb can be added as needed – the recordings preserve the true character of the instruments’ sound. Kabuki & Noh Percussion comes complete with 156 grooves that give you instant access to real nagauta and Noh performance rhythm patterns.
Kabuki & Noh Percussion for BFD2, BFD Eco and BFD Eco DV is available to purchase for $149 USD / 109 EUR / £95 GBP inc VAT.
