Goldbaby has introduced Dirt and Layers, a sample library featuring a collection of drum layering samples and dirt sounds for adding texture to your productions.
The dirt sounds can add subtle or not so subtle texture to your individual instruments or whole mixes. For example add some vinyl noise to give the impression that your instrument was sampled off vinyl. Add some tape noise to make your recordings sound like they were done on tape before noise reduction was invented. Use the damaged cassette noise to fake your cassette sampling skills.
The drum layering samples are a fantastic tool kit for augmenting and beefing up drum sounds. Give your drums more depth and texture by experimenting with different layers. Boost the bottom end of kicks with tuned subs or add a transient layer to help it cut through a mix. Crispen snares with various top layers or add body and substance using the sauce and body layers.
This pack is a treasure trove for experimenting and sound designing. With foley style SFX like footstep on gravel, plastic bag scrunching, glass beads dropping on drum heads, rattley door hits, movie style impacts…
Dirt and Layers features
140 dirt sounds (24bit wav), including vinyl and tape noise, digital hash, guitar amp and pedal hum and more…
800 drum layering sounds (24bit wav), including kick subs and sauce, snare tops and sauce, sucks, transients and more…
50 Rex loops, including vinyl centre and locked grooves, wind up motors and dirt patterns.
Sonic Mechanics has launched Classic Guitar Licks, a compilation of loops, including a custom Kontakt 4 instrument and Stylus RMX compatible Rx2 files.

For this project the SM team enlisted the help of a professional guitarist who created and worked with the team to produce a unique loop collection.
The collection comprises of 140 Kontakt instrument files, 140 Rex2 files, 140 processed Wav loops and 140 clean Wav loops.
The sample pack costs £24.95 GBP. Individual formats are available starting at £14.95 GBP.
How often do you get to work with the players that straight out of sessions with Mark Ronson and Katy B? Well, lucky for you, these guys are on the Frontline Roster and were just happy to be locked at Frontline HQ for a week whilst scantily clad, roller skated girls take drinks orders and keep the atmosphere Bootsycollinstastic whilst the lines went down.
What we’ve ended up with is an INCREDIBLE collection of Bass samples; great for pinning down that bottom end, changing sections, busting out grooves or simply being the bass line you need it to be.

The Sound Department – Austin has announced the release of Beat-Sliced Guitars, its first sample based instrument for Kontakt.
This is an innovative, dynamic, beat oriented guitar instrument set unlike any other.
It’s simple really – guitar played rhythmically in all the common note length variations and two playing styles, sampled and sliced so that it stays solidly in time with your host. Add some Kontakt magic like filters, delays and envelope loop patterns and voila – an incredibly expressive, inspirational and downright fun to play instrument! Multis extend the possibilities by adding a second or third instance with different keyswitch mappings so that more interesting and complex rhythmic patterns arise as different keyswitched note values are played against each other.
If you’re looking for an instrument that will let your guitar-slinger solos sound as close to a “real” guitar as possible (or as close as midi will allow), look elsewhere. What these instruments will do is provide a fresh and organic rhythmic timbre that is at once unique and familiar. No matter what your style, these instruments will give your compositions a solid edge.
Beat-Sliced Guitars features
348 48kHz 24-bit sample loops per instrument (~180 MB uncompressed)
29 notes (C1 – E3) and 6 common time values (whole, quarter, quarter triplet, eighth, eighth triplet and sixteenth)
Each note value and note length performed, sampled and looped for a 4/4 measure or more with two performance styles – staccato (or palm mute) and legato. Original loops are at 75 BPM but are sliced (ala REX files) so that they are useful over a wide range of tempos. We have also included a ’1/2-Time’ switch for programmers who like to double their tempo for finer resolution.
Velocity switches between staccato and legato playing styles.
Keyswitches control the note length values.
Performance controls allow you to easily map parameters like filter cutoff and delay amount to your controller.
Compatible with Kontakt 5.1 and later. Does not work with Kontakt Player.
Beat-Sliced Guitar libraries are available for the introductory price of $12 USD each (regular $18 USD).
