PreSonus has announced AudioBox iOne and AudioBox iTwo, two new USB powered audio interfaces.

PreSonus AudioBox iTwo

These next-generation mobile interfaces include PreSonus’ easy-to-use Studio One® Artist DAW for Mac and Windows, new Capture™ Duo recording software for iPad, and a Nimbit® Free account for online direct-to-fan distribution of music, merchandise, and more. With Capture Duo or Capture for iPad and an AudioBox iOne or iTwo, you can record with an iPad, then wirelessly transfer your recordings directly to Studio One Artist. The result is an integrated, end-to-end, mobile solution that includes everything needed to record, edit, mix, and share music anytime and anywhere.

The AudioBox iOne sports one instrument input and one mic input, while AudioBox iTwo offers two combo mic and switchable line/instrument inputs. Both feature high-performance Class A mic preamplifiers with phantom power and 24-bit, up to 96 kHz converters with 105 dB of dynamic range. The DACs feed balanced ¼-inch, line-level outputs and a loud, clear headphone output with independent level control. The AudioBox iTwo also includes MIDI In and Out. Each interface has an internal analog mixer with zero-latency monitoring, enabling you to monitor recorded tracks and overdubs without audible delay.

Small, lightweight, and USB bus-powered, the AudioBox iOne and iTwo can sit on a tabletop or fit in the pocket of a backpack or laptop bag. They’re built to travel, with a metal chassis and knobs and jacks secured directly to the enclosure to reduce strain on the internal circuit board.

Both interfaces work with any recording software that supports Core Audio (Mac) or ASIO (Windows).

PreSonus has introduced Capture for iPad and Capture Duo, two new audio-recording apps for Apple iPad that are based on the company’s lauded Capture live-recording software for StudioLive mixers.

PreSonus Capture

Capture™ Duo two-track recording software for iPad, free from the Apple App Store, is based on PreSonus’ Capture live-recording software for StudioLive mixers. Capture Duo lets you record and play two tracks with 24-bit, 96 kHz fidelity and includes basic mixing and editing as well as an integrated metronome.

PreSonus also offers Capture for iPad, which can record up to 32 tracks with the same features and 24-bit, 96 kHz fidelity. Capture for iPad is available from the Apple App Store for an expected price of $9.99.

Capture features

  • Simple, intuitive, mobile recording solution for Apple iPad®.
  • Capture™ Duo records two stereo tracks; Capture for iPad records up to 32 tracks.
  • One-tap recording.
  • Records at up to 24-bit, 96 kHz.
  • Direct wireless transfer of sessions to PreSonus® Studio One®.
  • Editing functions include cut, copy, paste, split, and duplicate.
  • Level and Pan controls for balancing your tracks.
  • Saves in compact Apple Lossless format.
  • Works with any iPad-compatible interface, including the internal iPad microphone.

Related: , , , , , , Posted in news on Jul 17, 2014 - comment 0 comments

iMusicAlbum has announced the release of AltiSpace, a convolution reverb for iPad and iPhone.

AltiSpace (iPad)

The realistic sound of famous reverb equipment for your iPad and iPhone! Includes a large built-in library of the highest quality reverb impulses taken from actual devices and the possibility to upload your own reverb space impulses. Intuitive and compact user interface for maximum ease and efficiency.

What is the convolution reverb?

Briefly, convolution reverb is based on a process that digitally ‘captures’ the reverb characteristics of another reverb effects unit or the reverb response of a real acoustic space. It is based on the mathematical convolution operation, and uses a pre-recorded audio sample of the impulse response of the device or space being modeled. The process of convolution multiplies each sample of the audio to be processed (reverberated) with the samples in the impulse response file.

AltiSpace features

  • High-quality, fast convolution algorithm.
  • Parametric equaliser with high and low pass filters.
  • Impulse response envelope editor with “reverse” function.
  • Amplitude and frequence modulator.
  • Stereo width control.
  • Built-in library that contains more than 200 impulse responses from famous analogue and digital reverbs.
  • Upload additional impulse responses in different audio formats.
  • Preset hotkeys, possibility to save current sample and its params.

The app is available for purchase for $5.99 USD.

Steinberg Cubasis for iOS

Steinberg has announced version 1.8.1 of Cubasis for iOS, the streamlined, multitouch sequencer for the iPad.

The 1.8.1 update not only solves several issues but also provides some small yet nice user-requested features. A noise gate plug-in, bluetooth audio support as well as a handful of usability improvements make Cubasis even more fun to use.

Changes in Cubasis v1.8.1

  • New Features:
    • Bluetooth, AirPlay and HDMI audio out support.
    • New noise gate effect.
    • Extended transport controls in the audio editor.
  • Improvements:
    • Setup redesign.
    • Selecting a channel in the mixer automatically scrolls its corresponding track into the visible area above the mixer.
    • After splitting an event only the newer part becomes selected.
    • Selecting a track is now also possible by touching its adjacent area in the arrange window.
    • When recording with the on-board keyboard the corresponding MIDI track gets autoscrolled into the visible area above the keyboard.
    • Double-tap resets the values of the transpose popup.
    • Mixer view gets updated if a track has been selected and its corresponding channel in the mixer is invisible.
    • Behaviour of MIDI and automation editor tools has been improved.
    • Tempo popup button behaviour has been improved.
  • Fixes:
    • Pasting MIDI events in the MIDI editor is no longer limited to one-time use.
    • Volume and pan values of a frozen track that contain automation data will now be reset.
    • Fixes a problem where the recording of chord pads was limited to single notes (instead of chords).
    • Triggering MIDI notes in cycle mode via external keyboard no longer leads to a note off command at the end of the cycle.
    • Fixes an issue where autoscroll was unnecessarily triggered if an audio event handle was moved.
    • Snap and quantization grid settings are now saved with the project.
    • Freezing a track during playback at high CPU load no longer renders Cubasis unreliable.
    • Setup view will now be properly closed when switching to another view.
    • Audio editor playback now stops exactly at the right locator.
    • Fixes a rare problem where certain MIDI files (Format 1) were imported as single tracks.
    • MIDI Inputs assignment with external apps now works as expected.
    • Punch in recording now works as expected.

Steinberg also released the new 1.6 version of the Cubasis Project Importer extension for Cubase.
