Hideaway Studio has released Orbitone Collection II, a virtual instrument library for Native Instruments Kontakt.
The Orbitone Collection II is another slice of rich electronic sounds and textures presented as an upgrade to the original Orbitone Collection by Hideaway Studio.
Amongst several source instruments captured during the making of this library was a unique experiment to pass the sound of 1938 Novachord 346 through the triple parallel analog chorus “Orbitone” stages of a 1972 Eminent 310U thus creating the world’s oldest string synth that never was!
Orbitone Collection II features
- 381 generously long 24-bit samples.
- 20 multi-sampled instruments acting as voices/partials in the layering engine.
- 40 editable example instrument patches (in .nki format).
- 40 editable example layered multis (20 combining Orbitone II and 20 combining both libraries).
- User Manual.
The Orbitone Collection II upgrade is available to purchase for £8 GBP. For new customers a bundle of both Orbitone Collections is available for £18 GBP.

Hideaway Studio has launched Constellation: Apollo 203A, a virtual synthesizer library for Native Instruments Kontakt.
Constellation: Apollo 203A features the sounds of a a 1976 Polymoog model 203A.
In a similar manner to Monopolyphonix I really didn’t want to sample the poor beast to death simply to produce another virtual offering so instead I captured over 500 samples directly from No.3211s mix output, often a sample per key, and set about trying to make something a little different. To add to the mixing pot I sampled a number of patches I’d recently created on my SE Omega 8 which I thought was kind of fitting in a way as it almost felt like a celebration of the last 30+ years of polyphonic synthesis. In order to make the two sing a little more sweetly together I decided to wash the Omega through an old analog stereo chorus unit and a tube equaliser.
Stephen Howell (Hollow Sun) and Mario Kruselj really outdid themselves this time with a superb GUI based on the 4-voice layering engine but now complete with independent velocity sensitivity controls on each channel…
Constellation Apollo 203A features
- 660MB library for Kontakt 4.2.4 and above (full version).
- 551 samples in 24-bits.
- 24 multi-sampled voices available in 4-Voice layering engine with ability to save patches.
- 32 demo patches, 16 demo Multis, demo & user manual with more on project background.
The Apollo 203A virtual instrument library for Kontakt costs £10 GBP.

Hideaway Studio has announced The String Collection, a string synthesizer sound library for Native Instruments Kontakt.
It features 16 synthetic strings presented in the 4 voice layering engine made by carefully blending and tube processing several native analog sources including 1938 Novachord, 1972 Eminent 310U, 1978 ARP Omni, SE Omega 8 and Crumar Bit One as well as several experimental discrete analog/tube based exponential sawtooth, waveshaping, passive L/C and EQ circuits.
The String Collection features a number of tube processed layers and blends of string synthesizers, brought together to form the basic 16 instruments loaded into the layering engine in NI Kontakt.
The String Collection features
- 244 generously long 24-bit samples.
- 16 multi-sampled voices/partials.
- 4-Voice Layering Engine with ability to save.
- 12 editable example instrument patches.
- 2 example layered multi patches.
- User Manual.
The sample library is available to purchase for £10 GBP. Requires Kontakt 4.2.4 or higher, full version.

Hideaway Studio has launched The Blue Zone, the first in a new series of unique sounds & textures for Native Instruments Kontakt.
The Blue Zone is a new series of one-off experimental electronic textures and instruments presented with a simple user interface to be periodically interspersed between major releases (there is indeed much work in progress on a new project!). The plan is that they will eventually form a unique library of more exotic sounds available in single inexpensive installments.
Most of the sounds in the collection will be exclusively created from scratch using combinations of custom tube hybrid equipment, experimental circuits and vintage analog gear. I have named the first installment after the series, The Blue Zone…
This wispy number was created by three modulated and detuned ramps fed hot into the Dual Tube Hybrid Filter with both the Tube and Multi-Mode stages dancing about self resonance. The filter cutoffs were hand cranked in unison via a modulation matrix in and out of the harmonic resonance points and the results passed through an analog chorus and sampled in 24-bits.
The Blue Zone for Kontakt costs £1.50 GBP (requires Kontakt full version 4.2.4 or higher).

Hideaway Studio has announced the release of Zero-1, a synthesizer sound library for Native Instruments Kontakt.
The Zero-1 is based on the Yamaha CS01 synthesizer.
Zero-1 is in essence a single oscillator virtual analog synthesizer (VA) loosely based on the CS01 monosynth which was released in 1982 as an affordable entry into the world of analog synthesis… but with a twist! Rather than simply sample the basic DCO oscillators from the original instrument I thought it might be more interesting to first pass them through a tube overdrive and Watkins Copicat tape delay. Mangling the raw oscillators in this manner injected a significant amount of character and movement to the original waveforms – even the splice in the tape loop adds something! Five oscillators were multi-sampled in 24-bits in this manner: triangle, sawtooth, 50% square, 25% square and PWM.
One unique feature of the Zero-1 is the ability to switch between a Mk I and Mk II CS01 filter emulation. This selects either a 12dB/oct or 24dB/oct filter and changes the livery of the control panel to match the original variants – a flash of genius by Stephen Howell at Hollow Sun!
- The Zero-1 Synth for Kontakt.
- 50 24-bit tube & tape waveshaped oscillator samples.
- 40 editable example instrument patches with ability to save.
- 10 example layered multi patches.
- User Guide.
Zero-1 for Kontakt is available to purchase for £5 GBP.
