Renoise

Multiplatform music sequencer and audio processing application Renoise was updated to version 2.7 beta.

The metronome swings back. Renoise 2.7 transitions from the developer-heavy focus of the previous release to more musical concerns such as Sampling, Instruments, Automation, and Native DSPs.

As part of a beta promotion, Renoise 2.7 is available at €40 for new users. We’re lowering the entry barrier to our beta cycle, known as the feature improvement phase before the final release. Already registered? Then why not bump your version for €32 in the Backstage?

Changes in Renoise 2.7

  • Renoise’s internal instruments have been re-engineered. The focal point is a new keyzone editor that supports overlapping, velocity, and key release mappings. The Sample Keyzones editor brings with it user interface refinements, improved drumkit generation, better tuning options, new sample properties, and loop modes. Live instrumentalists can also tap into new realtime rendering modes and MIDI input routing, making Renoise on a laptop a formidable replacement for your old sampler.
  • New Slice Markers push Renoise’s breakbeat insanity one step further. With the click of a button, your break is sliced and keymapped. Amens away! More than just a beatslicer, creatives will soon discover custom offsets and the power of aliases for controlling longer recordings like vocals and soundscapes.
  • The revamped Automation Editor now provides a zoomable overview of the entire song, as well as vastly improved envelope resolution. Navigating is smooth, dragging and drawing easier, so simple yet so useful.
  • Internal FX get an injection of winning with a new Comb Filter and a Multiband Send that lets you surgically redirect a single sound source to 3 send tracks. New draggable gain and frequency handles in the native EQs add flavour and finesse to the tools. Other changes include improvements to DSSI, MIDI optimizations, hardware-compatible solo mode, adjustable audio headroom, pre-count, ameliorations to the Lua API, and numerous other changes in every aspect of the app; no stone was left unturned in this release.
  • More, check the change log for details.

To celebrate the Renoise 2.7 Beta, for a limited time new accounts can be purchased with a 30% discount, lowering the entry barrier to Renoise’s Beta phase. Existing customers can take advantage of the -20% reduced pricing on upgrades.

Renoise

With Renoise you create loops, beats and melodies efficiently step-by-step. It’s a complete, expandable Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) with a refreshing twist. Renoise is affordable, yet no corners have been cut in regard to features.

Changes in Renoise v2.6.1

  • Autoseek with multiple note columns didn’t always work.
  • Renoise saved some 24-bit FLAC files wrong on Linux x64_64 – applies to 64-bit versions only.
  • Demo versions nag screen nagged demo version users way to early.
  • Mac OS X demo versions did not include the scripting API documentation and MIDI/OSC scripts.
  • A few other Lua API related fixes.

Renoise for Linux, Mac, and Windows is available to purchase for 58 EUR (excl. VAT).

Renoise

Renoise, the multi-platform digital audio workstation software, was updated to version 2.6.

It’s official. We are pleased to announce that Renoise 2.6 is ready for production. Over three months of community driven beta testing has put the software through the ringer. User feedback has resulted in our most innovative release to date. Rock solid stable, as usual.

Changes in Renoise v2.6

  • Script everything using a truly open API: Lua is a light-weight programming language, which together with the Renoise API allows you to build add-ons quickly and easily. Lua scripting, introduced as part of the beta cycle in July, has already resulted in a plethora of new tools, as well as native support for the following hardware: AlphaTrack, BCF-2000, BCR-2000, KONTROL49, FaderPort, microKONTROL, nanoKONTROL, Launchpad, Remote SL-MKII, Nocturn, Monome, Ohm64, iPad via TouchOSC.
  • Sample Autoseek: Samples have a new setting, “Autoseek”, which will, when enabled, make them behave like a traditional audio channel. You can start playing back the song at any position, and the sample will automatically seek to the current position in the song without having to be triggered.
  • Open Sound Control (OSC) Server Support.
  • Duplex – MIDI/OSC controller framework.
  • DSSI Support on Linux, 64-bit Linux Version.
  • Support for CAF, AIFC, SND and AU Files.
  • Linux & Mac OSX Performance Tweaks.
  • Minor usability and functionality refinements galore!

Renoise is available to purchase for Linux, Mac, and Windows, priced at 58 EUR excl. VAT.

Renoise 2.5 - Routing Matrix

Renoise 2.5 Beta is now available to download for registered users.

Just in time for a new decade, Renoise gets an upgrade from executive suite to penthouse with a panoramic view. The Renoise Pattern Matrix, both a bird’s eye view and a song editor, is the missing link that pushes Renoise’s unique approach to music composition to the next level. It’s the perfect companion to the “eyes on the details” appearance and capabilities of the Pattern Editor.

Renoise meta-devices (FX units that receive and transform parameters and other non-audio data) are now interconnectable across tracks. This opens the door to more modular approaches, like linking LFOs or key/audio signals all throughout your mix. Two new meta-devices round-up this “do anything” experience, giving the sound artist the freedom to connect and modulate all parameters with all others.

That’s just the beginning. Vastly improved MIDI mapping, automated rendering of plugin instruments to samples, a native guitar & bass amp simulator FX, performance optimizations, GUI improvements and much more…

Renoise

Renoise, a complete music production environment for Windows, Mac and Linux, was updated to version 2.1.

The idea behind 2.1 is that until Renoise has features like a piano-roll, an arranger and audio file streaming, you should at least be able to use them externally. That is why we have added routing features to connect Renoise to other audio applications. With ReWire on Windows and MacOSX, and the Jack transport protocol on Linux, you can finally combine the best things about trackers and sequencers.

Changes in Renoise v2.1

  • Full ReWire Slave & Master support (on Windows & OSX).
  • Jack Transport Support (Linux only).
  • New Pattern Sequencer Features
    • Decoupled Sequencer Playback Now Possible.
    • Live Pattern Triggering.
  • New meta devices (Modulation / Automation Device fun)
    • Hydra Device, automate/change/broadcast multiple FX parameters with a single parameter.
    • Keytracking Device, modulates parameters depending on an instruments key (note) value.
    • MIDI Control Device, replaces the old “MIDI-CC Device”, finally offering Pitchbend, Channel Pressure, Program Change & regular controller (CC) in a single device.

Renoise 2.1 is available for purchase for 49 EUR. Demo versions can be found here.
