Propellerhead updates ReBirth for iPad to v1.3

Propellerhead ReBirth

Propellerhead Software has updated the ReBirth music app for iPad to version 1.3.

ReBirth is back! Propellerhead Software’s legendary Techno Micro Composer has been resurrected and customized for the iPad. ReBirth faithfully emulates dance music’s three backbone devices: The Roland TB-303 Bass synth and the Roland TR-808 and 909 drum machines. Combine these with FX units, fully featured pattern sequencers and a gorgeous-looking interface and you’re ready to make killer tracks on your iPad. Share your music with friends on Facebook, Twitter and more using the built in sharing features.

Changes in ReBirth v1.3

  • Duo Mode – flip instruments around and jam with a friend on the same iPad.
  • MIDI sync – sync ReBirth to your DAW, MIDI hardware or other apps.
  • Background mode – keep ReBirth playing in the background when slaved to other apps.
  • SoundCloud Sharing – share your ReBirth music on SoundCloud.
  • iTunes export – export your track to iTunes on your computer.
  • Various bug fixes and performance enhancements.

The app is available at a special price of $9.99 USD for a limited time (regular $14.99 USD).

Chris Carlson releases Borderlands Granular App for iPad

Related: , , , , Posted in news on Oct 17, 2012 - comment 0 comments

Chris Carlson has released Borderlands, a new granular musical instrument for the iPad.

Explore, touch, and transform sound with this new interface for granular synthesis, a technique that involves the superposition of small fragments of sound, or grains, to create complex, evolving timbres and textures.

Borderlands emphasizes gestural interaction over knobs and sliders. Create, drag, and throw pulsing collections of grains over a landscape of audio files, or use the built-in accelerometer to sculpt sound with gravity. Record, save, and share performances via SoundCloud.

Borderlands comes ready to play with default sample content included, but you can load your own sounds too.

The app is available to purchase for $3.99 USD.

Getty Images / SoundCloud

SoundCloud has announced a partnership with Getty Images to allow sound creators to make their sounds available for licensing through Getty Images Music.

Whether you’re a professional or casual creator, if you have sounds up on SoundCloud, you’ll be able to offer them for licensing to media, advertisers, designers and creatives. And you’ll benefit from Getty Images’ global sales and distribution teams: they’ll help you to market your sounds and offer their expertise and experience in digital content rights and clearances. As always, you’ll need to make sure that you own all rights in the sounds that you intend to license.

If you’re ready to get started, head over to http://soundcloud.gettyimages.com to connect your SoundCloud account, sign up, and select which sounds you’d like to make available for licensing. They’ll get a ‘license’ button on the SoundCloud player and widget, and be made available on http://www.gettyimages.com/music if Getty approves your sounds for licensing.

Soundiron releases Rust 1 v2.0 Update + Win a Pulse Surface Controller

Soundiron Rust 1

Soundiron has announced the release of version 2 of its Rust 1 sample library for Native Instruments Kontakt.

We’re thrilled to release the long-awaited 2.0 update to the original Rust 1 metallic percussion library. This first volume focuses on a variety of small odds and ends like racks, paint cans, soda cans, magnetic balls, galvanized nipples, brass beams, a bowed saw, along with bigger sounds found in mine shafts, steel tunnels, towering stairways and more.

With 1.74 GB and 2724 samples, this classic collection delivers big value. We’ve also added tons of deep control features, an awesome new UI and added bonus content. We’ve refined key mapping and zone placement, velocity layering, humanization, tuning and more.

This update is free to existing Rust 1 owners. And for everyone else, you can grab Rust 1 now for only $49. Hurry, the price goes to $59 after October 5th, 2012.

Soundiron has also launched an official Rust 1 demo contest in celebration of the update, in collaboration with Pulse Controller.

Pulse Surface Controller System.

It’s open to all existing and new owners of Rust 1. Just send us a song you’ve created using sounds from Rust 1 as lead instruments. Upload your mp3 here.

On October 5th, we’ll select our three favorite song entries as new official Rust 1 demos. The winners will also receive their own awesome Pulse Surface Controller System.

The Pulse Controller is a revolutionary midi drum trigger and software interface that turns literally any surface into a incredibly responsive and natural sounding midi controller. It makes the perfect compliment to Rust 1 or any of our percussive instruments. Check out the video above to see it in action with several of our instruments. It also offers outstanding arpeggiation that work equally well with melodic and percussive instruments. We highly recommend checking it out.

Rust 1 for Kontakt is available to purchase for $49 USD until October 5th, 2012 (regular $59 USD).
