Sonokinetic has launched Toll, a collection of historical bells for Native Instruments Kontakt.
Way back when, when Sonokinetic was in its infant stage, we recorded two carillons and turned them into a simple kontakt instrument. Ever since, we have felt the urge to revisit that, and do it with the knowledge and experience we have gained over the past years. That time has come, and this time it is not just a carillon, but a large collection of different sized bells, from various periods and places of origin.
Each hit on these bells will spark a very unique and authentic sound that can only be generated by pure weight and age. Sonokinetic sampled historical valuable bronze cast bells as old as a 1000 years, proceeded through the ages of innovation in bell casting and tuning and ended in our time of hi-tech computer calibrated pitch perfect bells, and sampled all of those with great attention to detail, preserving their original tails of up to 30 seconds.

With Minimal, Sonokinetic BV delivers the fourth instalment in our current range of orchestral instruments. We have listened to our users, and built an entirely new system from the ground up, defining what we think is a revolutionary novel direction in orchestral pattern-based sampling.
Minimal would suggest a particular music style, and many of the patterns available in this instrument are very well suited for that style. However, we’d like to stress that this is indeed a very flexible instrument, capable of enhancing a broad range of musical arrangements and compositions in a wide variety of styles. Where Minimal differs from libraries like Tutti and Vivace is in its section-based approach. All phrases are recorded per orchestral section and can be used separately or together and in any combination, allowing for a great deal of variations at your fingertips.

Sonokinetic has announced the release of Qanun, a multi-sampled and performance sampled Qanun instrument for Native Instruments Kontakt.
This instrument complements our other Arabic instruments such as Ney and Kemence to build an ethnic ensemble. The Qanun has been played for centuries and feels right at home in our collection of deep sampled ethnic instruments and vocals.
The Qanun (also known as Qanoun and Kanun) is a dulcimer or zither-like instrument of 81 strings stretched over a frame and plucked with the fingers or picks. Its distinctive tone comes from the grouping of strings and levers which create the scales.
Our Qanun was recorded in Istanbul by our long-standing friend, expert engineer and composer Ceyda Pirali in high fidelity audio quality. The player is the renowned performer Gunay Celik who learnt his craft at the State Turkish Music Conservatory. He studied the playing styles and techniques for many years before becoming a master in 1992. He taught Qanun at university level and has played with the İstanbul University Ensemble and Ayangil Turkish Music Orchestra. His credits also include many performances with Turkish radio and television. Currently, Gunay is working at the State of Turkish Classical Music Ensemble. He has kindly agreed to allow us to capture his unique playing style with traditional songs and hundreds of improvisations.
For the multisampled playable instrument we have captured multiple round robins and velocity layers so that you can play the instrument chromatically. For the improvisations and songs, Sonokinetic Qanun features tempo-synced performances in root keys. These samples are wrapped in an intuitive interface which makes playing this instrument a pleasure. In addition, the convolution reverb creates an unparalleled ambience, evoking the spirit of Arabia.

Sonokinetic has launched Accordion, an accordion sample library for Native Instruments Kontakt.
The accordion is an instrument that has been on our ‘to do’ list for quite some time. The instrument can provide you with a very nice ‘couleur locale’ whenever you need to give a song that French twist. The accordion brings a breath of fresh air and evokes feelings of romance, passion and nostalgia.
As with other Sonokinetic instruments, we focused on getting a ‘real’ sound instead of a ‘perfect’ sound, as you can hear from the demo tracks skilfully created by our demo composers. We are very proud of the finished product and believe that it will empower lots of people to make MIDI recorded accordion tracks that sound like they were played under a bridge along the river Seine.
