TC-Helicon VoiceJam

TC-Helicon has released version 1.2.50 of VoiceJam, adding an inApp option to the powerful and creative audio looper for iPhone.

With the new inApp option, TC-Helicon now allows all users of its VoiceJam app to add shine to their voices with reverb modeled from the amazing VoiceTone R1 vocal effects pedal. Several different room simulations are available – from clean and subtle studio sounds to huge arena reverberations, or anything in between.

Also available is the VoiceTone C1 inApp option that is based in the vocal effects pedal with the same name and number. C1 offers hardtune and gender bending, and combined with the R1 inApp users can take that billboard-top-40 robotic-extreme-pitch-corrected sound over the top!

Further, users now get access to an audio scrub feature and instant drum-machine like loop triggering by tapping or dragging on any part of the orbiting waveform when the drum icon is lit.

Finally, a lot of polishing went on under the hood. Most significantly, VoiceJam has been heavily optimized to have a smaller memory footprint on the host devices.

In short, VoiceJam is taking creativity-on-the-fly to the next level!

VoiceJam for iOS is available to purchase for $4.99 USD.

TC-Helicon and Beardyman Go Absolutely Loopy

Related: , , , , , , Posted in news on Jul 08, 2011 - comment 0 comments

TC-Helicon has announced the ‘Gone Loopy’ competition, which runs from 30 June to 30 September.

TC-Helicon Gone Loopy competition
Requirements to participate: a TC-Helicon product with looping capability (VoiceLive Touch, VoiceLive 2 or VoiceJam app for iPhone), a personal YouTube account and an open, creative mind.

The grand prize of the ‘Gone Loopy’ competition is a US$1000 in cash plus a 45-minute lesson via Skype with the vocal looping master, Beardyman. Additionally, there are 5 runners up prizes – a ‘mystery’ TC-Helicon product – and the 5 perticipants who upload the most video entries will also be awarded with a TC-Helicon MP-75 Modern Performance Microphone.

To enter the competition, participants just have to complete 3 simple steps. First, they must record a video of themselves creating layers of vocal loops, using a TC-Helicon looping device. Second, upload the video to a personal YouTube video channel, making sure that ‘TC-Helicon Looping’ is included in the title of the video, and third, complete the online entry form on TC-Helicon’s website. To increase the chances of winning all participants are free to loop these 3 steps as many times as they want to – a new video must be submitted each time, of course.

All winners of the competition will be selected exclusively by the amazing voice loop and human beatbox master: Darren Foreman aka ‘Beardyman’. In a way, he could be seen as the personification of TC-Helicon’s overall goal: to support all singers’ natural right to express themselves in any way they feel like. Beardyman currently uses an impressive setup of looping devices and effects when creating his layers of vocals, including several pieces of gear from the TC-Helicon family of products.

Boss RC-30 and RC-3 Loop Station Pedals now shipping

Related: , , , , , , , , Posted in news on May 26, 2011 - comment 0 comments

Boss has announced it is now shipping the RC-30 and RC-3 Loop Station pedals, the latest additions to its industry-leading lineup of pedal-based loop recorders.

Boss RC-30

Featuring high-powered digital signal processing, stereo operation, and new cutting-edge features, these battery-powered loopers are worthy successors to BOSS’ top-selling RC-20XL and RC-2 Loop Station pedals.

Live looping has become an increasingly popular means of creative expression for musicians everywhere, and BOSS’ portable, affordable, and simple-to-use Loop Station products have played a pivotal role in the rise of this new type of performing. Now, powered by BOSS’ proprietary ESC2 DSP chip, the RC-30 and RC-3 Loop Stations offer looping musicians the most powerful and best-sounding tools yet available for recording and manipulating audio loops live and in the studio.

The RC-30 is housed in BOSS’ popular Twin Pedal chassis, just like the RC-20XL it replaces. New features include true stereo inputs and outputs, plus up to three hours of onboard stereo recording and loop storage, a marked upgrade to its predecessor’s mono I/O and 16 minutes of mono recording. Additionally, the RC-30 has a new dual phrase loop feature that lets users create and play two completely independent stereo loop phrases in perfect sync.

Included in the RC-30 is the LOOP FX feature that lets users process their loop recordings in real time, plus 99 memories for onboard loop storage and an LED memory indicator. In addition, a USB 2.0 port lets users swap and manage WAV audio loops with a computer. Holdover features from the RC-20XL include a mic input with phantom power, an AUX IN jack for connecting a portable music player, and a key selection of onboard rhythms, which now include real audio drum loops.

The RC-3 is the RC-30’s kid brother, housed in a rugged BOSS compact pedal chassis. The RC-3 offers all the essential features of the RC-30 in smaller package, including stereo I/O, up to three hours of stereo recording and loop storage, 99 onboard memories, USB 2.0, and built-in rhythms. Users can connect an optional BOSS FS-5U Foot Switch for additional foot control if desired.

Both of the new Loop Station pedals are available now. MSRP is $418.40 USD for the RC-30 and $318.50 USD for the RC-3.

Loomer updates Sequent effect plugin to v1.2.3

Loomer Sequent

Loomer has released version 1.2.3 of Sequent, a semi-modular sequenced beat looper multi effect for Linux, Mac, and Windows.

Sequent is a step-sequenced multi-effect processor with a flexible modular effects routing system, an incredibly powerful beat looper, twenty-three parameter sequencers, and a wealth of randomization options. Sequent is the ideal tool for mangling audio on stage or in the studio.

Changes in Sequent v1.2.3

  • Native 64-bit support for Linux VST plug-ins and Standalone application formats.
  • Integrated undo and redo, with unlimited history size.
  • Master Sequencer, to arrange effects along a time-line.
  • Random pattern generation functions.
  • Partial preset support for Routing configurations.
  • Thru switch for Delay Module, which if enabled allows the dry signal to be passed through when the delay effect is turned off.
  • Effects are now colour-coded for easy identification.
  • Category support in preset browser.
  • Windows VST 32-bit plug-ins and standalone applications no longer depend on additional runtime libraries. However, these libraries are still required – and installed – for the RTAS format plug-ins.
  • libjack is now weak-linked for standalone Linux. This means JACK is not required (but still recommended) for Linux users.
  • Windows RTAS plug-in is now installed to the correct location on 64-bit Windows operating systems.
  • MIDI Program Changes are now multi-threaded, and so will no longer potentially stall the audio synthesis.
  • Fix for rare issue that stopped presets from loading in Linux Renoise when LADSPA plug-in support is enabled.
  • Fixed crash that could occur when connecting Effects in the Routing Window whilst simultaneously changing Presets via MIDI.
  • Fix for crash (on both Windows and Linux) that could occur when ‘space’ is pressed when confirming the overwrite preset dialog.
  • Presets without Patterns are now considerably smaller when saved to disc.
  • Improved rendering speed of Router graphics.
  • Reduced CPU usage when switching or editing patterns.
  • Preset Browser is now maximized to fill the entire plug-in window.
  • For Windows VST (32-bit and 64-bit), the preferences file can be placed alongside the DLL file to facilitate USB or portable installs.
  • Additional presets.
  • Various host compatibility fixes.
  • PDF manual is now printer-friendly.

Sequent is available to purchase for £49 GBP excl. VAT.
